Photo & Media Policy

This policy explains how photos, videos, and other media work on ShareDay. It applies to all galleries, guest uploads, and media-enabled features.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy & Data Policy and Terms of Use.

1. What This Policy Covers

This policy applies to:

  • Photo and video galleries

  • Guest uploads

  • Media attached to guestbook entries or messages

  • Any visual or audio content uploaded to an event

ShareDay provides the tools to upload and view media.
We do not create, select, or approve content.

2. Who Is Responsible for Media

Responsibility is simple and explicit:

  • Event hosts are responsible for how galleries are used in their event.

  • Uploaders are responsible for the content they upload.

  • ShareDay is not responsible for user-uploaded media.

If you upload content, you confirm that:

  • You own the content or have permission to share it

  • You have consent from anyone shown in the content, where required

  • The content complies with this policy and the law

3. Permission and Consent

ShareDay does not verify:

  • Ownership of media

  • Consent of people shown

  • Whether permission was obtained

That responsibility lies entirely with:

  • The uploader

  • The event host

If you do not have permission to share something, do not upload it.

4. Children and Minor Content

Extra care is required for content involving children.

If content includes a minor:

  • The uploader confirms they have permission from a parent or legal guardian

  • The host confirms their event is appropriate for sharing such content

The following is strictly prohibited:

  • Sexualised content involving minors

  • Exploitative, abusive, or harmful material

  • Content that places a child at risk

ShareDay may remove such content immediately and may report it to authorities where required by law.

5. Visibility and Sharing of Media

Media visibility depends on event settings chosen by the host.

Guests should understand:

  • Media may be visible to other invited users

  • Media may be downloaded, copied, or shared by others

  • Screenshots and external sharing are outside our control

ShareDay is not responsible for how others reuse content they are allowed to see.

6. Moderation and Removal

We reserve the right to:

  • Remove media

  • Disable galleries

  • Restrict access to features

This may happen:

  • Without notice

  • At our discretion

  • If content breaches this policy, our Terms, or the law

We are not obligated to store, restore, or justify the removal of media.

7. Storage and Deletion of Media

Media is stored only as part of an event.

As outlined in our Privacy & Data Policy:

  • Media is not kept permanently

  • Event media is manually deleted after the event

  • Deletion occurs no later than 12 months after the event date

Hosts are responsible for saving copies of anything they wish to keep.

8. Reporting Issues

If you believe media violates this policy:

  • Contact the event host first

  • You may also report it to ShareDay for review

We do not guarantee action in every case, but we will assess reports reasonably.

9. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time.

Continued use of ShareDay means you accept the current version.
